Performing in the Graduate Conducting Program
Performance and podium time are at the core of the Graduate Conducting Program.
The culminating project of the Graduate Conducting Program is the Degree Recital.
Given during the second year of study, students have the opportunity to conduct the repertoire of their choice on this concert.
Joined by the Bard College Chamber Singers and Symphonic Chorus and members from the Bard Conservatory Orchestra and The Orchestra Now, student conductors have the opportunity to fully prepare and perform their chosen works.
In addition to their culminating project, conductors work bi-weekly with the 13-member Graduate Condcuting Ensemble, assistant conduct the Graduate Vocal Arts Program operas, and conduct large chamber ensembles throughout the year, including premieres by faculty members Joan Tower and Kyle Gann and works such as Stravinsky's L'histoire du Soldat.
