Additional Performance Opportunities

Performance and collaboration are at the heart of Bard Conservatory. In addition to the requirements of Bard Conservatory Orchestra and Chamber Music, Bard Conservatory provides ample opportunities for students to perform in a wide-range of ensembles, including the Bard Baroque Ensemble and East/West Chinese Ensemble.

Students with an interest in jazz may also participate in the Jazz Ensemble in the Bard College Music Program.

Bard's mission to promote new and under-performed music is seen, and heard, through the bi-annual Music Alive! concert series, curated by Joan Tower and Blair McMillen, offering students the opportunity to perform contemporary works of the 20th & 21st centuries, and the annual Kurtág Festival, focusing on works of the great Hungarian composer György Kurtág and his contemporaries.
